About VMHSS
Education with character
VMHSS, operated under the name of SIV School from 1965 until 2009, officially changed its name to Vijayalakshmi Matriculation Higher Secondary School in May 2009. Today the school is owned and managed by Shree Vijayalakshmi Charitable Trust to provide quality education to all deserving and under-privileged children in the area, absolutely free of cost.
We believe in preparing students for the challenges they will face in universities, colleges and beyond by giving them a solid foundation of knowledge and skills. To be successful academically, one must also develop a healthy body through activity, fitness and nutrition, so we encourage every student to take part in regular physical fitness and wellness activities.
Our purpose is to lead the children entering our portal on a voyage of self-discovery – to provide quality education in a stress-free environment, and to identify and nurture the latent creative potential in every child.

Academics
An academic council prescribes a creative syllabus to suit the integrated development of the students. The school follows the Matriculation Board; the medium of instruction is English, with Tamil and Hindi as second languages.
Our teachers arouse curiosity and interest, teaching students to think logically, reason, discover and solve problems independently, and to care for fellow beings.
Admissions
Our school provides quality education to students free of cost.
- Fresh admissions are normally made for LKG, Class VI and Class XI
- Students may be admitted to other classes when there are vacancies
- Admission to Class XI is based on the marks secured in Class X
Our Teachers
VMHSS has always focused on teacher quality. Since 2009 our teachers are appointed on the basis of their qualifications, training and readiness for school-based professional development. Parent–teacher meetings are held periodically, and we train our teachers to be role models who make a difference in their students’ lives.

Communication between school and parents is key to a good relationship. Parents are regarded as co-educators, and plenty of opportunities are created for home and school to work in tandem, as “parents are second teachers”.

We practise yoga to improve the health and function of the body and mind. Regular practice bestows a clear and bright mind.

SecretaryVMHSS is a vision driven school providing ample opportunities for all students who are less fortunate but have an inclination to pursue education. With this mission in mind, we at VMHSS strive to provide excellence in education with state of the art facilities and highly qualified teachers.
We endeavour to provide a curriculum with a difference – one that balances excellence in learning with an all-round cultural, physical, mental and moral development. Our attempt is to make the most formative and beautiful years of our students’ lives a joy forever.
With the support and guidance of our Founder / Trustee, we aim to impart quality ‘education with character’ to all the students of this prestigious institution.
