Free, quality education from LKG to Class XII · Sirumugai, Coimbatore

About Us

A charitable trust and a free school, both built on one belief – that money should never stand between a child and education.

Our story

In fond memory of Tmt. Vijayalakshmi

“No meritorious student should be deprived of education just because he / she is financially poor and cannot afford it.” With this in mind, Shree Vijayalakshmi Charitable Trust was established in 1990 in Coimbatore, in the southern part of Tamil Nadu.

The Trust was established by Shri O. Arumugasamy, Chairman of M/s. Senthil Group of Companies, Coimbatore, in fond memory of his wife, late Tmt. Vijayalakshmi. Since its inception it has rendered yeoman service in the fields of education, health care and the social upliftment of the poor.

As a model institution in Tamil Nadu, the Trust runs a school in Sirumugai, near Coimbatore, which gives completely free, quality education to its students.

Message

From the Founder / Trustee

O. Arumugasamy

Founder / Trustee

It gives me immense pleasure to see that Vijayalakshmi Matriculation Hr. Sec. School, Sirumugai has successfully completed four years of academic service to the student community after it made a humble beginning in the year 2009, when Shree Vijayalakshmi Charitable Trust formally took over the erstwhile SIV Hr. Sec. School as one of its service arms, helping poor but meritorious students to access quality education.

Encouraged by the excellent performance of our children in the public examinations held in 2010, we have not only added the second floor to the main school building to accommodate more children, but also constructed a new three storied children school building in our campus exclusively for children in classes LKG to V. The new children school block has modern teaching facilities such as a library, computer lab and smart classrooms. A multipurpose auditorium has been newly constructed to support the students to excel in their physical and cultural activities.

I wish to congratulate the students, teaching and non-teaching staff for their dedicated work to fulfil our aim of imparting quality ‘education with character’ and moulding the students towards holistic development and global competence through an in-depth teaching learning process. The school has been conceptualised to fulfil my dream that “no meritorious student should be deprived of education because he or she is financially poor and cannot afford it”.

My best wishes to all of you for useful and meaningful student days in the years to come. May God bless us in all our efforts to serve the poor and the needy!

More than a school

It is a family

When it comes to education, money should not be an object. With this novel and philanthropic idea, Shree Vijayalakshmi Charitable Trust runs Vijayalakshmi Matriculation Higher Secondary School to provide quality education to all deserving and under-privileged children in the area, absolutely free of cost.

VMHSS is home to a rich cultural mix of almost 2,400 students from various family backgrounds, ranging from age 3 to 18, and operates as a not-for-profit system. But the reason it is unique is simple – it is more than a school; it is a family.
