Trust Vision
“No meritorious student should be deprived of education just because he / she is financially poor and cannot afford it.”
A charitable trust and a free school, both built on one belief – that money should never stand between a child and education.
“No meritorious student should be deprived of education just because he / she is financially poor and cannot afford it.” With this in mind, Shree Vijayalakshmi Charitable Trust was established in 1990 in Coimbatore, in the southern part of Tamil Nadu.
The Trust was established by Shri O. Arumugasamy, Chairman of M/s. Senthil Group of Companies, Coimbatore, in fond memory of his wife, late Tmt. Vijayalakshmi. Since its inception it has rendered yeoman service in the fields of education, health care and the social upliftment of the poor.
As a model institution in Tamil Nadu, the Trust runs a school in Sirumugai, near Coimbatore, which gives completely free, quality education to its students.
“No meritorious student should be deprived of education just because he / she is financially poor and cannot afford it.”
The Trust has set for itself a noble mission to educate children – be it in Medicine, Engineering or Arts & Science, at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level – selected on the basis of merit, and to establish in the near future a full-fledged university to provide absolutely free education in all faculties of learning.
The school at Sirumugai starts as SIV School and serves the area for over four decades.
Shri O. Arumugasamy establishes Shree Vijayalakshmi Charitable Trust in Coimbatore in memory of his wife, late Tmt. Vijayalakshmi.
In May 2009 the Trust takes over SIV Hr. Sec. School and renames it Vijayalakshmi Matriculation Higher Secondary School.
After excellent public exam results, a second floor, a new three-storey children’s school block and a multi-purpose hall are added.
When it comes to education, money should not be an object. With this novel and philanthropic idea, Shree Vijayalakshmi Charitable Trust runs Vijayalakshmi Matriculation Higher Secondary School to provide quality education to all deserving and under-privileged children in the area, absolutely free of cost.
VMHSS is home to a rich cultural mix of almost 2,400 students from various family backgrounds, ranging from age 3 to 18, and operates as a not-for-profit system. But the reason it is unique is simple – it is more than a school; it is a family.
About the schoolFresh admissions are made for LKG, Class VI and Class XI, and in other classes when there are vacancies. Education is free of cost.
