Since 1990 the Trust has served education, health care and the social upliftment of the poor. Its school at Sirumugai teaches about 2,400 children from LKG to Class XII – absolutely free of cost.
No meritorious student should be deprived of education just because he or she is financially poor.
Founded by Shri O. Arumugasamy, Chairman of Senthil Group of Companies, in fond memory of his wife, late Tmt. Vijayalakshmi – rendering service in education, health care and the upliftment of the poor.

Run by the Trust since 2009 in place of the SIV School (1965), VMHSS gives deserving and under-privileged children of the area quality education absolutely free of cost.

It gives me immense pleasure to see that Vijayalakshmi Matriculation Hr. Sec. School, Sirumugai has successfully completed four years of academic service to the student community after it made a humble beginning in the year 2009, when Shree Vijayalakshmi Charitable Trust formally took over the erstwhile SIV Hr. Sec. School as one of its service arms, helping poor but meritorious students to access quality education.
VMHSS is a vision driven school providing ample opportunities for all students who are less fortunate but have an inclination to pursue education. With this mission in mind, we at VMHSS strive to provide excellence in education with state of the art facilities and highly qualified teachers.
Our multi-purpose hall has a concrete floor of 17,000 sq.ft., a height of over 50 ft and an elevated stage of 1,250 sq.ft. It was inaugurated by the former President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, to serve indoor sports and cultural activities.
60 spacious classrooms with proper lighting and ventilation for a conducive learning environment, and separate labs for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science and English.
A well-furnished 4,000 sq.ft. library with 5,000 books covering a wide range of subjects, study materials, reference books, journals, magazines, periodicals and newspapers.
A cafeteria on campus for students to have their lunch, and a canteen with a choice of snacks, tea and coffee during intervals.
A spacious gymnasium with zones for cardio, strength and stretching, and coaching in athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, handball, table tennis, volleyball and more.
Well-organised school transport used by more than 400 students from the surrounding villages.
Fresh admissions are made for LKG, Class VI and Class XI, and in other classes when there are vacancies. Education is free of cost.
